Sun Busters by DaRiMi Kidz (closed)

DaRiMi Kidz was created by moms Carol Schlessinger and and Jennifer Wolfe who found that in the US, there was clearly a need for sun-protective products that were widely available in Carol's home country of Australia. I love that instead of shrugging about the lack of availability, these moms decided to do something about it and created DaRiMi Kidz, which the Sun Busters line of sun-protective clothing falls under.
As I research more on line about sun protection for our children, I'm shocked at what I'm learning. Did you know that unprotected sun exposure in the first 15 years of life more than doubles the chance of getting skin cancer later on? Did you know that skin cancer accounts for more than half of all cancers in the United States alone? These are sobering facts. I feel bad about the fact that last year I was in a store looking at sun-protective clothing for my kids and shook my frugal mommy head at the price tag, figuring I could get a bottle of sunscreen and call it a day and save myself the money. Ouch.

The fact is, we spend money on car seats, helmets, and other items for our children when they're out and about because we realize that these items are an important part of keeping our children safe and healthy. Why did I not realize that sun protective clothing is one more safety item worth purchasing? I suppose the answer is my own ignorance. I had no idea how dangerous the sun really is in childhood. That's not to say that I'm going to stow away in the house all summer and not let my children see the sun, but I'm going to be more diligent about keeping my kiddos safe. Unfortunately I was the kid who ran around without sunscreen and in the 80's we didn't even know sun-protective clothing existed, so my damage is already done. My kids, however, will have a healthier outlook for their skin because I'm going to see to it.

Sun Busters by DaRiMi Kidz "keep children safe without sacrificing style", as the site states. Looking at the clothing, I completely agree! No child wants to wear something that looks and feels heavy and constricting in the summer months and these separates and outfits look like, really, any other clothing hanging in my children's closets.

The Rash Guard Shirts really provide all day protection when worn as a regular shirt or when swimming. Sun Busters clothing blocks out 99% of all harmful UV rays (wow!) and provides a SPF of 50+.

Being a mom of a little guy who gets bad eczema in the summer months, sun-protective clothing like this is an excellent alternative to skin-irritating sunscreens. The clothing is also chlorine resistant, which is helpful to know when your little ones are going to be wearing it all summer (there's no sense in buying something that will wear down in the pool from the chlorine).

Sun Busters would like to offer my readers the opportunity to win a boys or girls Short Sleeve Rash Guard Shirt in the color of the winner's choice (subject to availability)!

To enter, check out Sun Busters by DaRiMi Kidz and comment here telling me which Short Sleeve Rash Guard Shirt (and size) you would pick if you won.

I think the short-sleeved all-in-one in kauai pink is absolutely adorable for my youngest daughter! Even though she'll be 2 yrs old in July, she's tiny, and would need the 12-18 months size.

I LOVE sun protective clothing. It's so nice to not have to worry about slathering on the sunscreen or "missing" a spot. And rash guards are SO cute too!

I especially like the plain rash guard in princess pink (size: 2-3 years). My 2-year-old would look totally sweet in that bright pink color.

I also love the all-in-one suits and would like to get one of those for my baby this summer (she's 2 months old right now, but wearing 3M clothing). :)
